My fun experience at GenBeauty Toronto

Happy Sunday Guys!

I have been procrastinating about doing this post, but here it is. last weekend I went to Toronto for Genbeauty. Given that it was my very first makeup/beauty convention, I must say that I enjoyed it. I went as a general attendee, which means that there are certain perks that I was not able to benefit from, i.e: the swag bag, the cocktail party and more full size samples. Only the beauty creators that are part of ipsyos were able to get those. Aside from that I did receive a decent amount of products some of the companies that were there and in addition to that I received 2 small goodies bag: one on Saturday and one on sunday.

some of the products I received…
Smashbox full size primer
Brushes from tarte, Luxie and Moda
make up forever goodie bag
Some sample size shampoo and conditioner from OGx and a face mask from Pur-lisse

My favorite booths were Makeup forever (although I had to wait in line for about an hour because they had a 3 to 4 step process in order to get the goodie bag), Too faced, Smashbox (their line was the quickest and most efficient), NYX, Pixi, and Tarte. My least favorite were Caudalie and Skinfix because they “ran out” of samples???? Really? as if they were not aware of the amount of people that were attending.

The only negative thing I have to say about the event is that the amount of products that were given to general attendees compared to beauty creators was slim to none. The reason I say that is because beauty creators were able to get some extra full size products when general attendees who paid mad money for their tickets and came from out of town, walked away with little or no products. I only paid $105 for my ticket and I came from out of town. Although I did receive a good amount of products, but imagine my disappoint when some of the companies say they “ran out” of products.

Aside from that, I had a great experience based on this being my first time at a beauty convention and some of the staff at the booths were super nice and helpful. I went with my sister, so we had so much fun taking a whole bunch of selfies and meeting new people. Given that this is Ipsy’s first Genbeauty in Toronto, I can say that they did good, but I hope that they do better next year.

Thanks for reading guys, until next time….

  1. MUFE took us nearly 1.5hrs, but that goodie bag was completely worth it! Caudalie didn’t even have samples on the first day, like what gives? Looking forward to see what changes come next year!

  2. I know what you mean: I wish there was some middleground between the goodies bag, too. It felt unfair to the people that paid for the ticket – I was lucky to get mine at around $100 too, but still. I had a great weekend too, despite the lines and everything though, and I’m glad you did too!
